Thursday 18th December 2003 The University's staff Christmas concert, Christmas Crackers, took place yesterday in the Radcliffe Centre. Members of many departments turned out to see their colleagues sing, play instruments and give readings - some written especially for the occasion - and to join in some carol singing themselves. Professor Alan Brook organised, presented and participated in the concert as he does so well every year; a fact noted by the Vice-Chancellor who read out an ode he had composed to Professor Brook and his wife Pat. Amongst the other performances were readings - ranging from the serious to the humorous - plus festive songs and musical recitals which showed that our staff truly are a talented bunch! |

At the end of the concert mince pies and mulled wine were served, a collection was made for Willen Hospice and everyone returned to their offices feeling that little bit more festive! |
