BUCKINGHAM WELCOMES VIP GUESTS

Crowd of ambassadors with staff
Last Wednesday's guests meet University staff

Friday 23rd May 2003

The University has had a busy fortnight entertaining VIPs including John Bercow MP and the ambassadors of two countries.

On Friday 16th May, John Bercow visited the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Terence Kealey, to catch up on University news. Mr Bercow has always been a strong supporter of the University and it was a pleasure to welcome him here again.

On Wednesday 21st May the University welcomed the Ambassadors of Slovenia and Ghana and the First Secretary (Education) of the Japanese Embassy together with principals of a number of large language schools, including Pilgrims, Saint George International, Mayfair School of English, Students International and United International College, at an Open Day .

Our VIP guests were given coffee in the Business School, where they mingled with students and academics, followed by a tour of the campus, including the Modern Foreign Languages Department, Clore Laboratory, accommodation, the Students' Union, the Library and IT facilities.

This was followed by lunch in the Staff Dining Room with a viewing of our new promotional video and a talk from Terence Kealey. Feedback from our guests has been very positive.

Future Open Days (which are open to anyone, not just VIPs!) during 2003 are on: 20th August and 17th September.
