CITIZEN OF THE YEAR IS A FORMER STAFF MEMBER |
|
The University is absolutely delighted that Tom Treacy, who worked here for many years in the postroom, has recently been awarded Buckingham's Citizen of the Year Award. Tom, and his wife Beryl, are well-known and loved at the University and many alumni will remember Tom from his days working in the student postroom. Prior to working here Tom was a postman in and around Buckingham, where he and Beryl have lived for nearly 60 years. Retirement is supposed to be a time when people slow down and make time for themselves but Tom and Beryl spend most of their time helping the elderly and housebound, running errands for people who are unable to get out themselves and visiting those who may not receive many visitors. Tom inspires love and affection amongst all the people he meets and the award of Buckingham Citizen of the Year could not have gone to a better person. Report by Anne Matsuoka and the Web Team |
