UNIVERSITY RAG WEEKWednesday 6th August 2003 Students at the University of Buckingham are in the middle of organising one of the most exciting rag weeks ever. RAG stands for Raise And Give and this year the charities chosen as recipients of monies made from the events taking place are War Child (external link) and the Buckingham Hospital (external link). Rag Week begins on Sunday 10th August when townspeople are all invited to take part in a day of fun, food and culture. Starting at 12:00 and finishing at 16:00, anyone with something to sell can come along and take part in the car-boot sale that will take place on the Island car park (price £5 with ticket bookings taken on +44 (0)1280 822522). Meanwhile, on Beloff Lawn, there will be cultural stalls including, amongst others, the Asian Cultural Society, the Bahamian Society, and the Dine and Wine Society. There will also be a tombola and a raffle and throughout the afternoon a mini-cultural show (featuring a ‘Junkanoo’ by our own Bahamian dancers) will be repeated at regular intervals.
