OPEN DAY A SUCCESS |
|
The open day on Wednesday 20th August was a huge success. Over 50 students visited, including a large group from Stafford House College, Canterbury and a number of local students with their parents. Daniel Radlett, Principal of Stafford House College said: “This has been a great learning experience for my students. We have a large group of younger students from Nigeria, who are only in the UK for two weeks, so it is marvellous for them to see how a British university works and they will remember Buckingham when they go back to Nigeria.” The students were taken on a tour of the Law School, Psychology and Information Systems Departments and then listened to brief speeches from Irving Stevens, Law Admissions Tutor and Linda Luckhurst, Psychology Lecturer and Student Support Officer. The party then visited the Tanlaw Mill for lunch, followed by a welcome speech from Professor Alistair Alcock, and a presentation of the University video. Our visitors were shown student accommodation and given a tour of the Hunter Street Library. Thanks go to George Jones, Irona Dougherty, Swee Har Newell, Penka Marinova, Jane Russell, Vi May, Mike McCrostie, Lawrie Drury, Margaret Ryan, June Alcock, Emil Vassilev and Marjorie Rawsthorne for making the day such a success. Should any other colleges or schools wish to arrange a similar visit they should contact marketing@buckingham.ac.uk . Report by Hilary Baxter and the Web Team |
