OCTOPUS CHALLENGE RETURNS TO BUCKINGHAM

Tuesday 23rd September 2003

For the second year running participants in a charity event, the Octopus Challenge Cycle-a-thon, stayed at the University for the night of Friday 19th September, before setting off on the last leg of their journey.

The Octopus Challenge Fund was set up in memory of Sam Roden-Scott who died at the age of 17 of a rare form of cancer in 2001. His father, Greg Scott, began the cycle-a-thon last year, beginning in Glasgow and finishing a week later at the King George IV pub in Willesden, London! The cyclists were joined again this year by Tim Jeffries (Green Shield Stamps), who is among a large group of celebrities who support this cause.

The Woolpack Inn in Buckingham very kindly agreed to sponsor a supper for the participants on Friday evening and they stayed in University accommodation on Friday night.
