Tuesday 23rd September 2003 For the second year running participants in a charity event, the Octopus Challenge Cycle-a-thon, stayed at the University for the night of Friday 19th September, before setting off on the last leg of their journey. |
|
The Octopus Challenge Fund was set up in memory of Sam
Roden-Scott who died at the age of 17 of a rare form of cancer in
2001. His father, Greg Scott, began the cycle-a-thon last year,
beginning in Glasgow and finishing a week later at the King George
IV pub in Willesden, London! The cyclists were joined again this
year by Tim Jeffries (Green Shield Stamps), who is among a large
group of celebrities who support this cause.
The Woolpack Inn in Buckingham very kindly agreed to sponsor a supper for the participants on Friday evening and they stayed in University accommodation on Friday night. |
