Monday 27th October 2003 The University was honoured and delighted that the Rt Hon Oliver Letwin, MP was able to take time from his very busy schedule to come and lecture at Buckingham on Monday 13th October. Mr Letwin came to talk on Law in a Multi-Cultural Society to an audience of around 170 people, comprising students, staff and townspeople. His talk, which investigated the possibilities of how the law can work best for everyone in our expanding global society, was followed by a very lively question and answer session. |
| This lecture was part of the Centre for Multi-Cultural Studies series | Prior to his talk Mr Letwin was interviewed by the local newspaper and asked for his views on the proposed asylum centre at Bicester - a hot topic in this area. Mr Letwin feels that such centres are not the answer and that the entire asylum system needs to be changed. |
