Monday 21st July 2003
Mr John Prodger, a member of the University Council and
currently also serving on the Finance and General Purposes
Committee, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours
List.
The honour was conferred for services to the community in
Buckinghamshire. Mr Prodger has, amongst other things, served as an
Aylesbury magistrate for 20 years, been a foundation governor at
Aylesbury Grammar School, a trustee of The Fremantle Trust and has
served on the council of the St John Ambulance in Buckinghamshire.
His contribution to the University is greatly appreciated by all
members of the staff and student body here and we congratulate him
on receiving this well deserved award.
Also knighted in the Birthday Honours List was an Honorary Graduand
of the University, Sir Christopher Ondaatje. Sir Christopher
received his
degree
in March of this year and our congratulations go to him
for the tremendous contribution he has made to the country,
particularly in the arts field.
