MA in Biography: MA by Research

Course leader: Professor Jane Ridley

Students opting to follow the MA by Research are required to follow both the Special Paper in Biography and the Autobiography courses (though they are not required to submit coursework). These courses provide the critical awareness of the subject which is an essential prerequisite for dissertation work. Students opting for the MA by Research are required to submit a piece of written work and also Research Methods course work before they progress to the research degree. They are required to submit a research proposal, to be agreed by the Research Officer. Students following this route receive fortnightly one-to-one supervisions.

The MA by Research is a Research Degree; it is regulated by the Research Committee and students are required to conform to guidelines laid down in the Research Degrees Handbook.

Assessment: Dissertation of 30,000 - 40,000 words.
