Introduction
The Access to Law programme is designed to ensure that students are well prepared to begin the Buckingham LLB. It is particularly useful for mature students who have not been engaged in full-time study for some time and for some students with qualifications other than A-levels (or their equivalent). Unlike many access programmes at other universities, the Access to Law at Buckingham is taught by academics who also teach on the LLB programmes. This means that you will be known by staff from an early stage, especially as Buckingham's class sizes are the smallest in the country.
From Access to Law to the Buckingham LLB
The Access to Law programme takes six months to complete and you can join us in January or July. After completing the programme you will be awarded the Certificate of Preliminary Legal Studies and be qualified to proceed to the single honours LLB. Those interested in taking a degree in Law with a minor subject should ask the Law School about entry requirements before applying for the Access to Law programme.
Access to Law entry requirements
Applicants are expected to have passed five subjects at GCSE (or equivalent) and be at least seventeen years of age. You should also have spent two years completing A levels (or equivalent), but we can accept people with other relevant qualifications or work experience.
