The University of Buckingham has been placed in three of the individual subject league tables in the Guardian University Guide 2011 published on Tuesday, 8 June. The Business School came 2nd (beaten only by Warwick), English came 6th and Law 24th, out of over 100 UK universities. This is a significant achievement and it reflects the high standards at Buckingham and the care given to our students.
The Guardian’s accompanying article says:
“… one consistent theme emerges from the departments that have performed particularly well in this year’s Guardian subject tables – the importance they place on human relationships.”
(Hilary Swain Universities that put students first come top The Guardian, 8 June 2010).
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves.
This result follows on from our success in the Independent newspaper in May 2010 and the Sunday Times University Guide in August 2009. Coming top for student satisfaction in the National Student Survey for four consecutive years has been a huge boost and student numbers at the University continue to grow, contrary to trends in the state sector. Focussing on the student experience and the quality of the academic staffing has been a priority and will continue to be so.
