Aims of the module

The module aims to introduce the student to intermediate level monetary economic theory and its applications. It provides an analysis of the major institutions, theories and suggestions for policy that show how the financial system can and has impinged on the economic performance of the UK in recent years.

Objectives of the module

The successful student will acquire a knowledge and understanding of financial markets and institutions as well as economic theory and its implications for macroeconomic policy.
