Buckingham & China
The University of Buckingham has always been attractive to Chinese students. Buckingham offers the chance for students to study a three-year degree in two years. Our two-year degree provides the same level of academic content as traditional 3-year degree programmes and receives the same recognition as a three-year degree. Completing a degree in 2 years means lower tuition fees and living costs, plus the opportunity to begin your career a year sooner.
Entry requirements
Foundation
Foundation programmes provide a bridge between school study in your home country and undergraduate study at a UK university. Foundation courses lead to undergraduate programmes in the Schools of Business, Sciences or Humanities. All the courses are taught by subject specialist staff at Buckingham, so you will be part of university life from your first day.
- International Foundation Programme (IFP):
- January entry point – 3 terms:
- Senior High School Year Two (Gao Er) 70% or Year Three (Gao San) 70%
- Language requirements: IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each component)
- Extended IFP:
- September entry point – 4 terms (including 1 term pre-sessional English):
- Senior High School Year Two (Gao Er) 70% or Year Three (Gao San) 70%
- Language requirements: IELTS 5.0 (with at least 4.5 in each component)
Integrated Foundation + Two-year undergraduate
Three-term foundation + two-year undergraduate
- Senior High School Year Two (Gao Er) 70% or Year Three (Gao San) 70%
- Language requirements: IELTS 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each component)
Undergraduate entry requirements Two-year degree (excluding medicine):
- Senior High School Year Three (Gao San) 80%
- A-level: BBC
- IB: 29-34 (depending on the degree subject)
- Language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each component)
Postgraduate entry requirements:
- Successful completion of a Chinese 4-year bachelor degree from an MOE approved university, with Second Class/Division equivalent to a British Bachelor’s (Honours) degree, with a minimum of a 2:2 (50-60%), depending on the school of study.
- Language requirements: IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each component)
The grades quoted above give an indication of a typical offer; at the Admissions Tutor’s discretion alternative qualifications may be considered. All applications will be considered individually and work experience and other interdisciplinary achievements are taken into consideration when deciding upon all applications. Applicants may also be invited to interview.

We work closely with counselors and overseas representatives who can advise you on how to apply for your degree as well as in completing your visa application.
You are not obliged to make an application through an agent but we strongly recommend that you consult with them if you require a visa counselling service. The International Office may be able to assist you with your application and let you know what documentation you need to prepare but are unable to offer advice on visas.
