Course outline
The English Pre-sessional is 9 weeks long and aims to prepare students with an already advanced level of English (5.5 IELTS or equivalent) for degree-level studies. Its primary focus is on study skills, reading for gist, writing essays and an academic term paper, listening to lectures, note-making, giving presentations and taking part in seminars. In addition, it provides a thorough introduction to the subject students wish to go on to study with the help of lectures by subject specialists and reinforcement work by EFL staff.
Applicants may be required to study this course if their English language level falls slightly below the entry requirement for their chosen degree. Successful completion of this course will then allow students to progress onto their undergraduate studies.
