League Tables
UK rankings
Applicants to British universities are helped in making their choices by annual University League Tables of excellence published by the major newspapers. The scores are derived from data provided by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and from the results of the National Student Survey (NSS) - an independent survey of final year students on the quality of their University experience. Buckingham started submitting data to HESA in September 2005 and participating in the National Student Survey in 2006.
Our overall positions (see below) have been achieved despite receiving no rating for our research. This is because, as an independent University, we have not participated in the HEFCE-funded Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) so no data is available in this category.

Position at subject level
Because of Buckingham's small size, in many instances our departments are not large enough to receive an individual ranking in the national newspaper league tables. We have however been included in the following:
| The Times | The Guardian | The Independent | |
| Business | 2nd (out of 112) | ||
| English | 6th (out of 102) | ||
| Law | 36th (out of 91) | 24th (out of 90) | 45th (out of 92) |
Top for Student satisfaction
Buckingham students are amongst the most satisfied in the United Kingdom. The University came top of the National Student Survey in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Top for employability
In July 2009 The Times Higher Education reported that 100% of the 2007-2008 cohort went on to work or further study (full article - external link). This is a significant achievement for any university but Buckingham was doubly proud that in a period of economic recession our students have bucked the trend (based on figures released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency) which shows the number of jobless degree-holders has risen.
Top for staff to student ratio
The Independent reported that the University of Buckingham has the best staff to student ratio as part of its Complete University Guide, published on 20 May 2010.
