James Rowell joined the University of Buckingham full-time in January 2002 following a number of terms as a visiting lecturer. From 2004-06 he was the Programme Director for the MBA at Buckingham. He lectures in operations management and logistics on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Prior to this he has worked in the areas of operations management and marketing with a variety of leading companies. Since 1995 he has been a visiting lecturer at a number of universities including Bradford UBMC, BCUC, University of London and the University of Minneapolis / St Paul (USA). As a part of a portfolio of activities he also provided business consultancy in the areas of business research and development. He has also conducted management training in operations, quality management and marketing as a consultant for RIPA International (London) including, in August 2000, a training seminar held in Botswana. Since 2005 he has delivered Logistics and Supply Chain Management courses for Advancia-Negocia in Paris.
His research interests include the methodology for the development of competitive advantage in SME environments, and with his colleague Anne Hampton research on the development of Global Leadership in SMEs.
In his spare time James likes walking, swimming, improving his French, and developing his skills as an artist.
