13 July 2005 – Review on fetal origins of insulin resistance and obesity published
A review article based on a lecture given by Clore Laboratory postdoctoral fellow Claire Stocker at a joint Nutrition Society/Association for the Study of Obesity Symposium has been published in Proceedings of the Nutrition Society .
The review describes the evidence for early origins of adult metabolic disease, the role of genes and environment, experimental models of early growth restriction, glucocorticoid programming of the fetus, the role of leptin in fetal growth and development and experimental results from the Clore Laboratory on the role of leptin in the programming of metabolic disease.
