The modules, which are taught during the first term, are designed to prepare students for the core modules taught in the remaining terms. These modules are examined by continuous assessment and diagnostic class tests. The modules cover the following subject areas:
- organisational behaviour
- principles of economics
- introduction to information systems for business
- financial accounting
- management accounting
- quality, operations management and and logistics
- introduction to marketing
- introduction to business law
- leadership and entrepreneurship
- statistics for managers
Students are also given inputs in the various business related skills that they will be required to use during the course, for example, case study methods, report writing, presentation skills and essay preparation. Training is also provided to students who are unfamiliar with information technology on how to make the best use of computer software as an aid to their studies.
