About the Department of Applied Computing

Home   >>   Applied Computing   >>   About Applied Computing

The Applied Computing Department prepares students for their future careers using the latest and most desirable industrial technologies. These include image processing, security, data mining, networking, Web technologies and multimedia systems.

All of the taught concepts are applied using the latest development tools and software in different operating systems platforms. We offer a stimulating environment in which students have the opportunity to feel an integral and valued part of an academic community. There is a friendly, informal atmosphere, in which all members of staff are readily available to give guidance to students outside formal classes. We equip our students with the necessary skills to face the real world (meet our graduates).

The department has a very active research profile, and this attracts many students to our MSc and PhD programmes. The availability of pre-master courses like Certificate in Computing and Postgraduate Diploma in Computing allows students to convert from a non-computing in the shortest possible time.
