Application procedure

  1. In addition to your application for a place, please send a personal statement (minimum 500 words) outlining the importance as you see it of the role of the media in UK life and culture, and the reasons why you feel you have a contribution to make in this area; a note of any activities undertaken and/or choices you have made (academic and otherwise) which point to an interest in journalism would also be welcome. This should be clearly marked “Tindle Scholarship / Bursary application”.
  2. Please also send a short ‘portfolio’ of any material that you think might be relevant. This need not be extensive; applicants in the past have included such things as items (features, articles, reviews etc.) from school magazines, song lyrics, short stories, relevant A-level coursework. This should be clearly marked “Tindle Scholarship / Bursary application”.

Your Tindle application will go before a separate Scholarships / Bursaries Committee. Awards range from £1,000 to £3,000 per annum. You will be informed of the result of your application for an award, usually within 3 weeks of submitting it.
